Sarjis Alam, a central leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), claimed that their delegation came under attack in Gopalganj by what he described as “killers and agents of Hasina.”
In a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon, Alam accused police of inaction, saying they stood by and “watched like it was a play.”
“If we survive this, we will return only after digging the grave of Mujibism. Otherwise, we won’t return,” wrote Alam.
He urged people from across the country to rush to Gopalganj in solidarity and called upon local students and youth to rise against what he termed as “traitors.”
“Today is the last day to bury the agents,” he declared,.
Gopalganj, the birthplace of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and long seen as the heartland of the Awami League, of which activities are now banned, has become a symbolic battleground.
