A supreme court lawyer on Saturday has served legal notice to National Citizen Party (NCP) -principal coordinator for northern region Sarjis Alam for his alleged involvement with ‘contempt of court’.

Lawyer Jashim Uddin has served this notice following Sarjis Alam’s comments on the High Court verdict on the writ petition filed to null the gazette which allows BNP leader Ishraque to take oath as mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.

On Thursday High Court rejected writ filed to halt gazette issued in favour of Ishraque as mayor of DSCC. “If you can win High Court verdict by creating mob what’s the point of having this High Court?”, Sarjis Alam said in a Facebook post.

The legal notice has asked Sarjis Alam to organize a press conference and to seek verbal apologies as his comments amount to “contempt of the court.”
