A Dhaka court granted two-day remand to Salman F Rahman, former Law Minister Anisul Huq, and Awami League leader Nuru Mia in a murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order on Wednesday, when PBI inspector and also the investigating officer of the case Muhammad Kamruzzaman filed a petition seeking a 5-day remand for them, reports UNB.
Besides, the court rejected the remand petition of another accused Sohanur Rahman Azad in the same case. However, the court also rejected the bail petition submitted by his lawyer Advocate Zahirul Islam.
According to the prosecution, Md Riaz, 23, suffered bullet injuries during the anti-discrimination student movement at Science Lab intersection in the capital on August 4, last year. He later succumbed to his injuries on August 17, 2024.
Shafia Begum, mother of Riaz, filed a case with Dhanmondi Police Station.
Meanwhile, the court also accepted the petition filed seeking to show nine people including former ministers Amir Hossain Amu, Hasanul Haque Inu and Rashed Khan Menon arrested in different cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
The other accused in the case are—former minister Quamrul Islam, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former mayor Atiqul Islam, former MP Manirul Islam Manu, former secretary to the Home Ministry, Jahangir Alam and Awami League leader Rajani Akter Tushi.
Besides, the court accepted the petition to show Salman F Rahman and Anisul Haque, arrested in two separate cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
