The Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), Hall Council, and Senate representative elections have been rescheduled for September 28, authorities announced Wednesday.

Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr F Nazrul Islam said the polls, originally slated for September 15, will now be held later in the month.

Voting will take place at the university’s administrative building from 9am to 4pm, with results expected the same day.

According to the revised schedule, nomination papers will be distributed between August 24–28 and again on August 31.

Submissions will be accepted from September 1–4 and on September 7. Scrutiny is set for September 8–9, with the preliminary list of candidates to be published on September 11.

Objections may be filed and settled on September 14, while September 15 is the deadline for withdrawal of candidature. The final list will be published on September 16.

The final voter roll, released on August 19, lists 25,152 students, including 15,468 women, as eligible voters.

This year’s election marks a significant return to student representation after 35 years. The last RUCSU polls were held during the 1989–90 academic session.

Preparations are currently underway to ensure smooth conduct of the polls. As per the RUCSU constitution, student body elections are meant to be held annually, though the process has remained stalled for decades.
