The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s national selection panel on Thursday named a 15-member squad for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, scheduled to begin on June 28 in Harare.
Pace-bowling all-rounder Robiul Haque has earned his maiden Test call-up, while Towhid Hridoy has been included in the red-ball squad for only the second time.
Robiul, the right arm pacer has taken 107 wickets in 32 first-class matches for Rangpur Division at an average of 20.90, including four five-wicket hauls. He has also contributed with the bat, scoring 602 runs in 41 innings, including two half-centuries.
From the squad that featured in the recent Test series against Pakistan, pace trio Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam have been rested.
Syed Khaled Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud have been recalled to the squad, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz has also been rested. In his absence, the selectors have opted for off-spinner Nayeem Hasan who retained his place.
Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan, who were part of the Pakistan series squad, have retained their places too.
Opener Shadman Islam, who missed the second Test against Pakistan in Sylhet due to a chest injury, returns to the squad. Zakir Hasan, who replaced him in the playing XI for that match, has not been considered for the Zimbabwe tour.
Following the conclusion of the ODI and T20I series against Australia at home, Bangladesh will travel to Zimbabwe for a tour comprising a one-off Test, a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series.
