Bangladesh Under-19s claimed the tri-nation series crown in Harare with a 33-run victory over South Africa Under-19s, thanks to a magnificent all-round display from Rizan Hossain, who scored 95 and took five wickets.

After being sent in to bat, Bangladesh recovered from a shaky 65 for 3 through a superb 117-run stand between Rizan and Kalam Siddiqui Alin. Kalam made a composed 65 before falling to Bandile Mbatha, while Rizan narrowly missed out on a century, dismissed for 95 as he tried to accelerate late in the innings. Lower-order contributions from Mohammad Abdullah (38) and Ratul (13) lifted the total to a competitive 269 all out.

South Africa’s reply began with intent as openers Zurich van Schelvick and Adnaan Lagadian attacked from the outset, taking the score beyond 50 inside the powerplay. Al Fahad made the breakthrough in the eighth over, removing Lagadian for 40 off 31 balls. Schelvick followed soon after, trapped leg before for 19, also by Fahad.

A steady partnership between captain Mohammad Bulbulia (31) and Jason Rowles (35) threatened to bring the Proteas back into the contest, but Rizan’s right-arm pace turned the tide. He bowled Bulbulia, dismissed Armaan Manack cheaply, and later returned to break a dangerous 59-run stand between Mbatha and Ntando Soni (34). South Africa’s lower order could not bridge the gap, and they were bowled out for 236.

Rizan finished with outstanding figures of 5 for 34, supported by Fahad’s 3 for 36 and Swadhin Islam’s 2 for 42. H
