Rituparna Chakma continued her sensational form in the Bhutan Women’s League, scoring twice to help Paro FC beat fellow title contenders Transport United 3–1 on 22 July.

The winger was deservedly named player of the match as Paro recorded their fifth consecutive win to remain top of the table.

Paro FC now lead the league standings with a perfect record, and once again it was Bangladeshi talent that made the difference. Rituparna, who had scored a double hat-trick in the previous game, was at the heart of Paro’s attacking efforts, while her compatriot Monika Chakma also got on the scoresheet.

Facing them on the other side were Bangladesh national team players Krishna Rani Sarkar, Masura Parvin and goalkeeper Rupna Chakma, all representing Transport United. Rupna was beaten three times in the match, each goal scored by a fellow Bangladeshi.

The match was level at 1–1 by half-time, with Rituparna opening the scoring before Transport United equalised. In the second half, Monika Chakma restored Paro’s lead before Rituparna wrapped up the win with a brilliant finish from the left edge of the box in the 81st minute.

Reflecting on her performance, Rituparna said:

“It was a tough match, but I’m very happy. I became the player of the match because of my teammates’ support. We fought hard and the win was a team effort.”

Paro’s dominance in the league so far has been fuelled by a strong contingent of Bangladeshi players, including former national team captain Sabina Khatun and the Japan-born Sumaiya Matsushima.
