The press wing of the Chief Adviser has strongly condemned what it described as a “false and misleading report” aired by Indian news portal Aaj Tak Bangla, which involved Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and members of the Bangladesh Police.

In a statement posted on verified page of CA Press Wing Facts, the wing clarified that the report misrepresented publicly available photographs as “secret” and made baseless claims linking the uniforms of Bangladeshi police officers to those of Pakistani military generals.

“Aaj Tak Bangla broadcast a report that featured an image of Bangladesh Police officers receiving medals from the Chief Adviser during Police Week, falsely claiming the image was a ‘secret photograph,’” the statement read.

The report further alleged that the Chief Adviser’s handshake with police officers suggested a covert alignment with Pakistani generals, insinuating an unsubstantiated conspiracy involving Bangladesh’s law enforcement and military posture.

In fact, the photographs were taken during a public award ceremony on April 29 at the Rajarbagh Police Lines, where 62 officers were honoured for their exemplary service as part of the Police Week observance.

Among the officers pictured were Additional Inspector Generals of Police Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, and Md Chibgat Ullah, as well as Deputy Inspector General Kazi Md Fazlul Karim—each recognised for distinguished contributions to their duties.

“This was neither a secret event nor a leaked photograph,” the post emphasised. “The image in question was officially released to the media by the Chief Adviser’s press wing.”

The statement also criticised Aaj Tak Bangla for irresponsibly invoking the Bangladesh Armed Forces in its narrative, stating: “These broadcasts are not only inaccurate—they are part of a deliberate smear campaign against Bangladesh. The report was deeply condemnable and malicious in intent.”
