Raisa Moni, the young victim of the tragic plane crash involving a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet that hit Milestone School and College in Uttara, was buried in her home village of Alfadanga, Faridpur, on Friday morning. The entire village is in deep sorrow following the heartbreaking incident.
Her parents, Shahabul Sheikh and Mim, have been devastated by the loss. Raisa’s funeral prayers were held at the Bajra Eidgah ground in Gopalpur Union before her burial at the Bajra graveyard around 9:00 am.
Family members shared that Raisa was the youngest of three children. Her older sister, Synthia, is 13 years old and in the eighth grade at Milestone, while their younger brother, Rafsan, is 4. The parents had hoped to give their children a good education, enrolling them at Milestone in hopes of raising them as responsible individuals.
Obaidur Rahman, a former member of the local Union Parishad, described the scene as heart-wrenching, with everyone in the area mourning the loss of the young girl.
Shahabul Sheikh, Raisa’s father, recounted that on July 22, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took DNA samples to identify the victims. Raisa’s identity was confirmed, and her body was brought back to the village that night, arriving at dawn.
The crash occurred on July 21 when a fighter jet crashed into the Haider Ali building of Milestone School and College, killing several people, including Raisa Moni.
