Jon Rahm has been crowned LIV Golf’s individual season champion for the second consecutive year, securing the $18 million (£13.3m) top prize despite losing in a play-off to Sebastian Munoz in Indiana.

Rahm, 30, fired an impressive 11-under 60 to finish the final event at 22 under par, tying with Colombia’s Munoz, who made headlines earlier in the week with a stunning first-round 59. Munoz sealed victory with a birdie at the first extra hole, while Rahm could only manage par.

However, the runner-up finish was more than enough for the Spaniard to clinch the season-long title, edging out Chile’s Joaquin Niemann, who tied for fourth on 17 under at the Club at Chatham Hills.

Despite not winning a single tournament throughout the season, Rahm’s consistency proved decisive. The world number three finished inside the top 10 in 12 of his 13 LIV appearances, showing remarkable form on a tour increasingly defined by big scores and tight competition.

Rahm’s final-round charge on Sunday included six birdies in his opening 10 holes and an eagle at the par-five 13th. A solitary bogey at the 14th was followed by four consecutive birdies to close out a superb round, underlining his status as the most consistent performer on the Saudi-backed circuit.

In contrast, Niemann claimed five titles this season, Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, Virginia, and Britain, but fell short in the overall standings.

Elsewhere, there was relief for two of Rahm’s former Ryder Cup teammates. Both Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter secured their spots for 2026, avoiding relegation from the LIV roster. Westwood birdied four of his first five holes to finish tied 17th on 12 under, while Poulter birdied four of his final five to match that score, pushing their Majesticks GC co-captain Henrik Stenson into the drop zone.

Niemann’s team, Torque, celebrated a team victory in Indiana, their first since 2023, but it is Rahm’s Legion XIII who enter next week’s LIV Team Championship in Michigan as the top seed.
