The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) remains vigilant against underworld crime and the activities of top-tier criminals, said RAB’s director of legal and media wing, Wing Commander M Z M Intikhab Chowdhury. He made the remarks at a press briefing held Tuesday afternoon at the RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar, in the capital.
“RAB continues its standard operations against terrorism,” Intikhab stated. “If any unlawful activities come to our notice, we will take legal action without delay,” he said.
Speaking specifically about the underworld, the wing commander added that RAB has increased intelligence surveillance and is monitoring potential threats through its 15 active battalions across the country. “If we detect any subversive activities linked to the underworld, RAB will act decisively in accordance with the law,” he said.
In light of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations, RAB has scaled up nationwide surveillance and security arrangements. According to Wing Commander Intikhab, the force has set up control rooms, mobile patrol units, observation posts, checkpoints, and CCTV monitoring to ensure the safety of citizens.
He mentioned that no specific threats of sabotage have been identified so far, but RAB is fully prepared to counter any potential plots. “We are analyzing intelligence reports and cyber monitoring data closely. Even in the absence of concrete threats, our readiness remains uncompromised,” he assured.
The RAB spokesperson also addressed concerns about public harassment during the festive period, particularly of women attending events or visiting crowded areas. He said that mobile courts and special security arrangements will be in place to prevent incidents of eve-teasing or harassment.
“Anyone who faces any kind of harassment must report it to on-duty RAB personnel immediately. Strict action will be taken against the offenders,” Intikhab stated.
With heightened security operations, RAB aims to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid celebration for all citizens.
