The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season will resume on 17 May, with the final confirmed for 25 May, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced. The tournament will conclude a week later than originally planned after being halted earlier due to rising cross-border tensions with India.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement via social media on Monday. “HBL PSL X picks up from where it left off,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “6 teams, 0 fear. Get ready for 8 thrilling matches starting 17th May, leading up to the Grand Final on 25th May. Best of luck to all the teams!”

While the full fixture list and venue details have yet to be confirmed, it is expected that the remaining matches will be staged in Pakistan. The PCB is set to release additional information in the coming days.

The abrupt suspension of the league had left eight matches unplayed, and the PCB has been eager to wrap up the competition quickly. Meetings were held on Monday with franchise representatives to finalise dates and venues. One of the biggest hurdles now is the availability of overseas players. ESPNcricinfo reports that a large number of foreign cricketers may not return, potentially impacting team balance.

Some franchises are reportedly more optimistic than others about getting their overseas stars back. In response, the PCB is exploring the possibility of holding a replacement draft to ensure squads remain competitive.

The rescheduling of the PSL has also had a knock-on effect on international cricket. Bangladesh were originally due to begin their T20I series in Pakistan on 25 May—the same day as the PSL final in Faisalabad. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has since confirmed it is in “active and ongoing discussions” regarding revised plans for the tour.

The return of the PSL marks an important moment for Pakistan cricket, as officials look to finish the season on a strong note despite significant logistical challenges and broader geopolitical tensions.
