Paris Saint-Germain are optimistic that Ousmane Dembélé will be fit in time for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday, 7 May, at Parc des Princes.
The French winger scored the only goal in PSG’s 1-0 win over Mikel Arteta’s side at the Emirates in the first leg. However, he was forced off in the 70th minute due to a hamstring strain and missed PSG’s 2-1 loss to Strasbourg on Saturday.
Despite the injury scare, reports from France suggest growing confidence around Dembélé’s recovery. PSG confirmed on Friday that he was making good progress. He trained on his own on Sunday, and on Monday he returned to a full training session with the rest of the squad behind closed doors—a promising sign for manager Luis Enrique.
Dembélé has enjoyed a standout season under Enrique, scoring 33 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions. In the Champions League alone, he has notched 8 goals and 3 assists, proving vital in PSG’s campaign.
Along with his goal against Arsenal, Dembélé also found the net in the dramatic second leg against Liverpool, opening the scoring and helping push the match to extra time and penalties, where PSG won 5-1.
His potential return could give PSG a major boost as they aim to secure a place in the final.
