Students blocked key roads in Barishal city for the sixth consecutive day on Tuesday, demanding reforms in the country’s health sector.
They voiced outrage over widespread mismanagement in hospitals, patient sufferings and harassment, and the deteriorating state of healthcare, particularly at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) in Barishal.
Around noon, demonstrators blocked the Dhaka-Barishal Highway near the Nathullabad Central Bus Terminal, causing significant disruption.
Besides, students and locals also blocked the Chawmatha and Sadar Road to press home for their three-point demand.

In addition, two students began a hunger strike in front of the SBMCH, demanding immediate reforms. After nearly 13 hours of fasting, both students reportedly fell ill but vowed to continue their protest until the Health Adviser takes concrete action.
The protesters claimed that despite 16 days of continued demonstrations, the government has yet to respond meaningfully. They affirmed their determination to continue the movement until credible commitments are made to reform the healthcare system nationwide.
