Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and its career club, organised a seminar titled “Financial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking” on the university campus recently.
According to a press release, the seminar was held under PrimeAcademia, Prime Bank’s flagship campus initiative offering one-stop banking services tailored for academic institutions.
More than 200 students from various disciplines joined the event aimed at promoting financial literacy, responsible money management and career exploration in the banking and financial services industry.
Bangladesh Bank Financial Inclusion Department Director Md Iqbal Mohsin delivered the keynote speech, highlighting the link between financial literacy, youth empowerment and the national financial inclusion strategy for inclusive economic growth under the Sustainable Development Goals.
A key feature of the seminar was the launch of the “Prime Youth Account”, a student-focused banking product promoting early financial responsibility, with on-the-spot account opening facilities.
JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdul Mazid attended as chief guest. Other speakers included Prime Bank SEVP and Head of Liability Shaila Abedin, SVP and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking M M Mahbub Hasan, and JUST Director of the Office of Student Counselling and Guidance Dr Md Rafiul Hasan, who inaugurated the event.
Prime Bank representatives discussed the bank’s initiatives to foster financial literacy, innovation and youth-focused banking solutions as part of its broader social responsibility. Both Prime Bank and JUST expressed interest in expanding collaboration through student-centric initiatives, research opportunities and skill development programmes.
The bank said the PrimeAcademia initiative is designed to provide institutional banking, fee collection systems, payroll services, school banking and customised student accounts under one platform.
