RAB arrested Meheraj Islam (20), the prime accused in the murder of Zahidul Islam Parvez, a student of Primeasia University. Another accused Mahathir Hasan (20) was apprehended by police.
With these latest arrests, six of the suspects named in the case are now in custody.
RAB-13 conducted a raid in Shahpara Union of Gaibandha district on Wednesday and arrested Meheraj Islam, the number one accused in the case.
Acting on a tip that he was hiding at Ershad Hossain’s house in Bhabanipur village, RAB conducted the drive and detained him.
RAB’s Senior Assistant Director (Media) Biplob Kumar Goswami stated that Meheraj was brought to Dhaka.
Meheraj, a BBA student at Primeasia University, resides in the Hazari Bari area of Mohakhali in the capital.
Following the murder, Meheraj fled the capital and had been staying at various relatives’ homes until his location in Gaibandha was confirmed.
In a separate development, police arrested Mahathir Hasan, another named accused in the case, from Chattogram.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division confirmed that Mahathir was apprehended from the Halishahar area in Chattogram on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out by Banani Police with support from local Halishahar Police.
Mahathir, the third named accused in the case, was arrested from an apartment in Azad Tower, Halishahar.
