The Premier Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank under its Tk10,000 crore Refinance Scheme.
The initiative aims to support increased agricultural production, strengthen food security, and create employment opportunities through expanded economic activities in rural areas.
The agreement was exchanged between The Premier Bank PLC Managing Director Md Monzur Mofiz, and Bangladesh Bank Agricultural Credit Department-2 Director AKM Saiduzzaman, on behalf of their respective organisations at a signing ceremony recently held at Bangladesh Bank.
Under this agreement, refinance facilities will be provided from a fund created through the surplus liquidity of scheduled banks and managed by Bangladesh Bank. Utilising its extensive branch network, The Premier Bank PLC will extend credit for crop and agricultural production, rural income-generating activities, agricultural machinery, and the fisheries and livestock sectors.
The scheme is expected to enhance agricultural productivity, stimulate rural economic growth, strengthen food security, and generate new employment opportunities across the country.
Senior officials from both organisations were present at the signing ceremony, expressing optimism that the initiative would make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of Bangladesh’s agricultural and rural economy.
