Police on Friday (27 June) sought a 10-day remand for former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda in a case filed over manipulating the national elections. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka is scheduled to hear the remand prayer on Friday afternoon, said court sources.
Investigation officer of the case produced former CEC before the court after end of his four-day remand in the case. Earlier, on Monday (June 23) Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mustafizur Rahman placed former CEC KM Nurul Huda on a four-day remand as police produced the former CEC before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case
On Sunday (June 22), former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda was arrested from the Uttara area of the capital.
The arrest came a few hours after BNP filed a case against 24 persons, including three former chief election commissioners- Huda, Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad and Kazi Habibul Awal, on charges of manipulation in the last three national elections held in 2014, 2018, and 2024.
