Police officer dies after being hit by train in Uttara

A police officer was killed after being hit by a train near the Airport Railway Station in Uttara on Saturday Night.

KM Monsur Ali, a sub-inspector (SI), hailed from Pabna and was posted at the of Dakshinkhan Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The officer-in-charge of the police station, Zainal Abedin, has said Monsur was returning to his residence in the Baunia area of Dhaka by motorbike after duty at the Hajj camp, reports UNB.

According to the OC, KM Monsur Ali’s motorbike broke down. After fixing it, he was then walking along the railway track, talking on his phone, when a train hit him around 9:24pm at Road No-10, Sector 4 of Uttara.

He was rushed to Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Legal proceedings in this regard are underway, the OC added.
