Expatriates who participated in the July uprising faced police obstruction while attempting to march toward the chief adviser’s residence Jamuna.
On Sunday at around 11:30am, the demonstrators tried to march toward Jamuna from Paribag intersection in the capital. Police barricaded the road near Hotel Intercontinental, blocking their path.
Undeterred, the protesters staged a rally and formed a human chain at the location.
Agitated expatriates stated, “Twenty-five people, along with others detained in Saudi Arabia and other countries for joining the movement, remain imprisoned in UAE jails. We are protesting to demand government action for their release. If the government fails to take effective steps, we will return to the streets.”
