The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Munna alias “Picchi Munna”, the main accused in the murder of Fazle Rabbi Sumon in Rayerbazar area of Mohammadpur in the capital.
RAB-2 Battalion Commanding Office (CO) Additional DIG Md Khalidul Haque Howlader shared the information at a press briefing at the RAB Media Centre in the capital on Thursday morning.
He said, acting on a tip-off, a RAB-2 team arrested Munna from Chawkbazar on Wednesday.
The official said that Munna had a dispute with Sumon, who lived in the Pabna House Goli area of Mohammadpur, over drug dealing.
In February, law enforcers arrested Munna. After being released on bail a month ago, Munna learned that Sumon had betrayed him.
To take revenge, Sumon was called to the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial compound in Rayerbazar by an unknown number. There, Munna and his associates hacked Sumon with the sharp weapon.
After being taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. Sumon’s father filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station in this incident.
