KM Shakhawat Moon, the Director of the Study and Training Wing of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), has been fired due to allegations of irregularities and corruption being substantiated in the preliminary investigation. He was the Deputy Press Secretary to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the July uprising.

This information was disclosed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The notification stated that since the allegations of irregularities and corruption against Moon were proven in the preliminary investigation, he has been fired in accordance with Rule 39(1) of the Bangladesh Press Institute Employment Regulations, 1988.

During the suspension period, he will receive subsistence allowance as per the prevailing laws. Shakhawat Moon has also served as an Executive Producer (Programs) at Bangladesh Television (BTV).
