Rain is likely to persist throughout the day in Dhaka, with a forecasted drop in temperature by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department.
In a forecast issued at 7:00 am on Monday for the next six hours, the Met Office said the sky over Dhaka and adjoining areas may remain temporarily partly cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers.
Winds are expected to blow from the south or southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometres per hour. The temperature in Dhaka is likely to fall by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius during the day.
At 6:00 am, Dhaka’s recorded temperature was 26 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 98 per cent.
Yesterday, the highest temperature in Dhaka and surrounding areas was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, while today’s minimum has been noted at 25.8 degrees Celsius. The city witnessed 50 millimetres of rainfall yesterday, according to the weather office.
Across Bangladesh, the monsoon remains active, with coastal districts such as Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, and Barguna experiencing heavy showers since Sunday night. Riverine and low-lying areas are likely to see moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours due to strong monsoon currents moving inland from the Bay of Bengal.
Fishermen have been advised to remain cautious while venturing into the sea, as squally weather and gusty winds are expected over the coastal belt and adjacent maritime areas.
