Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has signed a new three-year deal at Molineux, committing his future to the club despite a difficult start to the season.
The 57-year-old Portuguese coach took charge in December 2024 with Wolves sitting 19th in the Premier League. He successfully steered them clear of relegation, finishing 16th by the end of the campaign.
Although his previous contract was due to run until the summer of 2026, the club have moved to extend his stay in a bid to bring long-term stability.
Wolves currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table after losing all four of their opening matches this season. Still, chairman Jeff Shi insists Pereira remains the right man for the job.
“Vitor has made a very positive impact during his time at Wolves,” said Shi. “He’s brought clarity, energy, and a team spirit that gives us a foundation to be successful.
“Now is a time for stability. Vitor needs time to work with the squad, to build chemistry with new players, and we will do everything to support him and his staff.”
Pereira has had to navigate a challenging summer in the transfer market, losing several key players. Forward Matheus Cunha joined Manchester United in a £62.5 million deal, while full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri signed for Manchester City for £31 million. Nelson Semedo also departed, moving to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
In addition, speculation surrounding the future of Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen proved a distraction, as Pereira sought to integrate five new signings into the squad.
Despite the setbacks, Pereira remains optimistic.
“We will increase our level, with ambition to make our supporters proud on the pitch,” he said. “I’m very proud to be Wolves head coach. It’s an honour for me. This is the moment that we need to be united.”
