Pathao, the leading ride-sharing platform inBangladesh, has launched Pathao Connect, a new feature designed to make offline rides safer and more secure.

This innovative solution aims to address the growing concerns around offline rides, which have no tracking, no verified rider or passenger details, and no built-in safety measures, according to a press release.

The release highlights that over 60 per cent of daily bike rides in Bangladesh are happening outside ride-sharing apps, leaving both riders and passengers vulnerable to potential risks. Pathao Connect addresses this issue by allowing users to link offline rides to Pathao’s trusted system, ensuring the ride becomes trackable and protected under Pathao’s safety features.

Pathao Connect uses a unique code or phone number with an OTP, allowing either the user or rider to easily connect the ride to Pathao’s platform. Once connected, the ride becomes trackable, and all of Pathao’s key safety measures, including live location sharing, driver verification, and free trip safety coverage, are automatically activated. The service also ensures that user information is securely stored.

In addition, Pathao Connect allows users to negotiate fares directly with the rider and pay in cash, just like with regular offline rides, with no extra charges. As an added benefit, users earn Pathao Points, which can be redeemed for discounts on future rides and exclusive offers, even when riding offline.

Pathao aims to create a secure and seamless experience for riders, ensuring safety even when internet connectivity is low. The company’s commitment to building a safer digital infrastructure is central to its mission of empowering people and enriching lives.

Founded in 2015, Pathao has become the largest digital services platform in Bangladesh, with over 10 million users, 300,000 Pathao Hero and delivery agents, 200,000 merchants, and 10,000 restaurants. The platform has significantly contributed to the digital economy of Bangladesh, creating over 500,000 job opportunities.
