Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest film Param Sundari is fast approaching the Rs 50 crore mark, with a six-day box office collection of Rs 37.10 crore. The film, a cross-cultural romance directed by Tushar Jalota, earned Rs 2.85 crore on Wednesday following a strong weekend. It debuted with Rs 7.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday, according to Sacnilk.
Although weekday earnings saw a slight dip, Param Sundari is poised to surpass the box office performance of Sidharth Malhotra’s previous films, Yodha (Rs 35.74 crore) and Thank God (Rs 36.35 crore). Janhvi Kapoor’s recent release Ulajh earned Rs 11.05 crore, reports UNB quoting NDTV.
The film has faced comparisons to Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express, with Janhvi addressing the criticism. “I am from Kerala in the film, and not all people from the South can be grouped together. These kinds of films aren’t released every year. Chennai Express was an iconic film, with iconic characters and actors,” she said.
Param Sundari, produced by Maddock Films, tells the story of a romance between a man from Delhi and a woman from Kerala. Alongside Malhotra and Kapoor, the film also features Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya in key roles.
