The Palestinian authorities have expressed deep gratitude to the people of Bangladesh for holding protests and demonstrations across the country, condemning Israeli atrocities in Gaza as the humanitarian crisis in the region worsens.
“I was not surprised by the greatness of the people of Bangladesh when I closely followed the protest movement and demonstrations that swept most of the major cities in solidarity and support for Palestine and its people,” said Palestine’s Ambassador in Dhaka Yousef Ramadan in a statement posted on the embassy’s official Facebook page on Monday.
“I was not surprised by the actions and authenticity of the Bangladeshi people who sanctify freedom and dignity and know their meaning very well.”
The ambassador praised the powerful message conveyed by the Bangladeshi people through their protests:
“Today, through these protests, the people of Bangladesh have sent several messages to Palestine and the world, saying to Palestine, and specifically to the people of Gaza, that you are not alone, and that we are with you and behind you, living your pain and your hopes, and we will not abandon you no matter the cost, and we will remain so until you regain your land and freedom,” he said.
“Their message to the world is that there is no place for injustice, hypocrisy, or double standards. Dhaka will not accept injustice and will not forgive those who commit it.”
The envoy added that the demonstrations held across Bangladeshi cities would leave a lasting impression on Palestinians, especially those in Gaza:
“Palestinians in general and the Gazans in particular will see these honourable scenes that filled the Bangladeshi cities today and they will have the deepest impact on their souls and will remain in the memory for generations to come,” he said.
“I would like to assure the great Bangladeshi people that you have entered Palestinian history through its widest gates and you will not leave it. This is an honour for us as Palestinians. We will not forget your nobility and we will not forget your humanity.”
Ambassador Ramadan concluded his message by reaffirming the strength of Palestinian resolve, inspired by international solidarity:
“As long as the people of Palestine have noble people like the Bangladeshis behind them, they will never give up their just struggle and their fight against injustice until they achieve freedom, dignity, and the right to reside in their homeland peacefully.”
“This is the promise from the Palestinians to their Bangladeshi brothers and sisters – we will never give up nor bow down to any coloniser, whether from the east or west. We will continue to resist until Palestine is free.”
