Imran Haider, the newly appointed High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, has arrived in Dhaka. He officially joined the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka on Friday, August 8.
According to MOFA, he was welcomed at the airport by the Deputy High Commissioner upon his arrival.
Before joining the mission in Dhaka, Imran Haider served as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Myanmar. He replaces Syed Ahmed Maroof.
Maroof unexpectedly left Dhaka on a two-week leave in May.
In a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MOFA), the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka had said that Syed Maroof would resume his duties in Dhaka as High Commissioner after his leave. However, he never returned back to the mission.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, is scheduled to visit Dhaka for a two-day trip on August 23. The new envoy joined the Dhaka mission ahead of the visit.
