Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Dhaka on Saturday for a three-day official visit, marking the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister to Bangladesh in 13 years.
He landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around noon via a special flight, where he was received by Bangladesh’s foreign secretary Asad Alam Siam.
During his stay, Dar is expected to hold meetings with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, foreign affairs adviser Tawhid Hossain, and other senior government officials.
The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of issues, including the strengthening of bilateral ties, regional cooperation, and global matters of mutual interest.
The visit is significant as it aims to enhance diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries. Multiple agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, particularly focusing on trade, cultural exchanges, media cooperation, and tourism.
Ishaq Dar will also meet with political leaders, including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to further discussions on improving political and economic cooperation.
