The Bangladesh national cricket team, currently in Sri Lanka for a full series, is set to take on Pakistan in a three-match T20I series later this July. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officially announced the schedule earlier today.
All three fixtures will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The Pakistan team is expected to arrive in the capital on 16 July, with the series commencing on 20 July. The remaining two matches will be held on 22 and 24 July respectively. Each match is scheduled for a 6 PM start.
This series comes just weeks after the two teams last faced off in May-June during Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan. Originally slated to be a five-match series, it was reduced to three games due to regional tensions stemming from the India-Pakistan conflict. Bangladesh, led by Liton Das, were comprehensively beaten in all three encounters by a Salman Ali Agha-led Pakistan.
Unlike regular bilateral tours, this upcoming series is not part of the official ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP). The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed to the tour following a special request from the BCB, highlighting the cooperative spirit between the two boards.
The series offers a chance for Bangladesh to redeem themselves on home soil, while also providing both teams with valuable match practice ahead of upcoming international commitments.
