Padma Bridge, a transformative infrastructure project linking Dhaka with Bangladesh’s southern region, has completed three years since its inauguration. Since opening for traffic on June 26, 2022, the 6.15-kilometre-long bridge has seen the crossing of over 1.94 crore (19,473,607) vehicles as of June 2024, generating toll revenues of Tk 2,507.91 crore.

Executive engineer of the Padma Bridge site office, Abu Saad, confirmed the figures and shared that the data includes traffic and toll collection over three consecutive fiscal years—2022–23, 2023–24, and up to June of the 2024–25 fiscal year. He noted that both the number of vehicles and the toll revenue have increased significantly each year since the bridge was opened.

Officials involved in the bridge’s operation said the rising trend in traffic and earnings reflects the growing economic and logistical importance of the bridge, which has drastically reduced travel time and improved connectivity between the capital and the country’s southwestern districts.
