One youth shot, another stabbed to death in separate incidents in Mohammedpur

A young man was fatally shot in the Nobodoy Housing area under Adabar Police Station in the capital. The army has detained two suspects in connection with the incident.

The shooting occurred at around 8pm on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Md Ibrahim Sikdar, worked as a driver.

By 9pm, a senior officer from the Army’s 46 Independent Brigade confirmed the recovery of the weapon used in the attack – a pistol with loaded magazine. Two individuals named Rubel and Sajib have been arrested.

Investigations reveal that Ibrahim had previously secured a job for his nephew at an egg wholesale business. After his nephew left the job, Ibrahim and the egg trader held a mediation meeting at a local internet cafe in Nobodoy Housing area.

The discussion turned heated, and the trader opened fire. While the first two shots missed, the third bullet struck Ibrahim in the chest, killing him instantly.

Local residents chased and apprehended two suspects, severely beating them before handing them over to army personnel. The detainees sustained serious injuries.

Ibrahim’s body and the arrested individuals have been sent to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where the injured are receiving treatment.

In a separate incident, miscreants stabbed to death Al Amin alias Forma Pata Al Amin (26) at Chand Udyan in Mohammadpur.

The attack occurred at around 7pm Wednesday on Road No. 6 of Chand Udyan. Doctors at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital declared him dead after he was brought there in critical condition.

Mohammadpur Zone Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) AKM Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident.
