One person was killed and two others were injured when the wall of an under-construction building collapsed in the Panthapath area of the capital on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred at the entrance to West Rajabazar Road, next to Square Hospital.

According to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Faruk of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, local residents rushed to the scene to rescue the injured and the deceased before the police arrived. The identities of the victims have not been confirmed at the time of reporting.

Eyewitnesses stated that the entire front wall of the building collapsed, covering nearly half of the adjacent West Rajabazar-bound road. Police later cordoned off the area and closed the road to traffic.

Local residents allege that the construction site lacked adequate safety measures, despite being situated right next to a busy street.
