Bangladesh Army has arrested a notorious extortionist operating in Dhaka last night.  Liton was wanted in connection with several cases of robbery and abduction at Jatrabari Police Station, reports UNB.

He was arrested on Wednesday night around 10pm from ‘New Bandhu Hotel’ in Purana Paltan.

According to sources, Liton had been terrorizing business owners in the Motijheel area for a long time. He allegedly extorted money through threats, abductions, and false legal cases. These activities reportedly increased significantly after August 5 of last year.

Local businessmen from the Purana Paltan area had filed multiple complaints with the army, claiming that Liton was forcing them to pay money by threatening them with weapons. In response, the army and relevant intelligence agencies began monitoring his movements closely. On Wednesday night, a raid was conducted on Liton’s private office located in a building next to ‘New Bandhu Hotel.’ Following his arrest, searches were conducted at the hotel room, his office, and his residence.

Authorities seized five mobile phones, 200,000 Bangladeshi Taka in cash, and 1,100 US dollars during the operation.
