Lando Norris insists he’s not concerned by Oscar Piastri’s rising form, despite slipping behind his McLaren team-mate in the Formula 1 title race.
Piastri leads the Drivers’ Championship after winning back-to-back races, while Norris — who trails by 10 points — is aiming to bounce back at this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, the venue of his maiden F1 win last year.
“He’s doing a good job and deserves it,” said Norris. “I’ve made some mistakes and I know I need to get a move on, but I’m not worried. It’s only round six of 24.”
Norris has struggled to get the best from McLaren’s updated car, with qualifying errors affecting three of five race weekends so far. Team boss Andrea Stella admitted that setup changes this season had reduced the car’s predictability for Norris.
“There’s been a lot more understanding over the past couple of weeks,” added Norris. “We’re working hard as a team to improve both the car and myself. I’m confident I can turn things around.”
