Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will not require surgery for his Achilles tendon injury, following a detailed medical consultation in London.
Taskin, who was accompanied by BCB’s Senior Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury, was evaluated by a panel comprising an ankle surgeon, a sports physician, and a physiotherapist. After thorough assessment, the specialists advised against surgical intervention, opting instead for a conservative rehabilitation plan.
Dr Chowdhury explained: “The consensus among the medical experts is that Taskin’s condition can be effectively managed without surgery at this stage. His rehab programme has been specially designed to rebuild his fitness while carefully managing the tendon.”
The rehabilitation will be overseen by the national team’s medical and fitness staff, with a gradual return to full training planned over the coming weeks.
There is cautious optimism surrounding his recovery, with the BCB expecting Taskin to be match-fit by early June, provided his rehabilitation proceeds as planned.
Taskin’s injury management comes at a crucial time, as Bangladesh prepare for a packed international calendar, and his pace and experience remain vital to the Tigers’ bowling attack.
