Home Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that there are no security concerns regarding August 5, which marks the end of last year’s July Uprising with the departure of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The adviser told this to the reporters at the Secretariat in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
In response to a question regarding the 11-day special operation from July 29 to August 8, 2025, in a letter issued by the Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police, the adviser said, “This is not a nationwide operation, and it is being carried out by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). So, the DMP can tell us more about it.” Clarifying his statement, he said that various initiatives are taken or operations are conducted at different times based on necessity.
In response to another question from journalists, the adviser said, “On-arrival visas are not being canceled. We are giving on-arrival visas to the countries with which we have existing visa agreements. We will not offer on-arrival visas to those with whom we do not have such agreements.”
The adviser also informed that a team from Malaysia came to pay a courtesy call on him. They will participate in a conference with the police at the police headquarters.
Besides, the adviser also assured that the accused, who were involve in the Gangachara incident in Rangpur, will be brought to justice.
