BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Tuesday said there is no possibility of forming any political alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami though several Islamic parties have recently held discussions with them to form a political coalition.
“BNP believes in Islamic values, and several Islamic parties are in discussion with them,” he told journalists at a press conference at his residence in Gulshan on Tuesday.
If any party decides not to participate in election, it will be their own decision, he added.
“Those who will boycott the next election will eventually become irrelevant. I hope no political party will take that risk.”
The BNP leader said, “Some aspects of the July Declaration’s commitment are considered illogical. Alternative proposals will be presented during the discussion with the Election Commission. Any issue that contradicts the constitution will not be acceptable. Through dialogue, political parties will come to a common position.”
Salahuddin Ahmed warned that those opposing elections will be excluded from politics or face political consequences.
