Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, has clarified that no letter has been received from Tulip Siddiq, the former UK City Minister and niece of Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister

When inquired about Tulip Siddiq’s reported letter seeking audience with the Chief Adviser during his upcoming London visit, the Press Secretary said the government has not yet received any such letter.

“We cannot comment on something we have not seen,” reads a Facebook post of the Press Secretary.

His statement comes in response to a report published by The Guardian, which stated that Tulip Siddiq had written to Professor Yunus requesting a meeting during his upcoming visit to the United Kingdom.

According to the report, Tulip sought to resolve what she referred to as a “misunderstanding” regarding corruption allegations against her.

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to depart Dhaka for London on Monday evening, on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom from June 10 to 13.

Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique said the Chief Adviser will return home on June 14.
