President of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) Aminul Hakim has stated that the FY25 budget proposed by the interim government offers “nothing special” for Bangladesh’s internet sector.
While Hakim granted that there was some good news for corporate internet service providers due to the reduction in Advance Income Tax from 10% to 5%, for the most part, there was little to no good news for small and medium-sized ISP businesses.
He added, “The government wants to reduce internet prices but won’t adjust VAT or taxes, nor intervene in equipment costs. Without changes in VAT and taxes, internet prices won’t decrease.”
