Nine police inspectors forced into retirement

The government has sent nine officers holding the rank of police inspector (unarmed) into forced retirement. During the tenure of the previous administration, they had served in various police stations as officers-in-charge (OC).

Separate gazette notifications announcing the decision were issued today by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The notifications, signed by Deputy Secretary Nasimul Gani on behalf of the president, confirmed the move.

The officers retired are: Shikdar Md Shamim Hossain, police inspector of APBn-4 in Bogura; Abdul Latif, police inspector at the CID Control Room; SM Kamruzzaman, police inspector at the Reserve Office in Narayanganj; A. Kuddus Fakir, police inspector at CID Narsingdi; Mamun Or Rashid, inspector of Tourist Police in Munshiganj and Padma Bridge Zone; Nurul Islam, police inspector at CID Moulvibazar; Md Kamal Hossain, inspector (unarmed) of the Jamuna Bridge-East River Police Outpost; Md Selimuzzaman, inspector at Kulaura Railway Police Station; and Abu Bakar Siddique, inspector at the Madhupur Circle Office in Tangail.

All nine were retired under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, which allows the government, in the public interest, to retire any employee after 25 years of service without citing a reason.

The notifications stated that the officers will receive retirement benefits in accordance with the law. The order, issued in the public interest, takes immediate effect.
