Nine more individuals, including women and children, have been pushed into Bangladesh by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) through the Shantipur border area of Matiranga upazila in Khagrachhari.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning, confirmed Matiranga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Monjur Alam.
He said, “Nine people were pushed in through the Shantipur border during the night. Among them are women and children. We are yet to learn the full details of how they were pushed in, but preliminary information suggests they had been working in India as laborers.”
This is not the first such incident. On May 7, India began pushing people into Bangladesh through three points in Matiranga and Panchhari upazilas. With this latest incident, a total of 154 people have been pushed in through the Khagrachhari border so far.
Two days ago, on June 24, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 19 more people into Bangladesh through the Sylhet border.
Despite repeated objections from Bangladesh, the push-ins by the BSF continue along the borders between the two nations.
