The coming five to six days will be critical for determining the direction of Bangladesh’s new political arrangement, said Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday at the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters’ Forum, he said, “In the next few days, we’ll see where things are heading. But regardless of the outcome, there will be no delay in holding the election. The chief adviser is firm on this. If the public participates, nothing can obstruct a fair election.”
He also expressed hope that the election would be held in a peaceful environment.
Shafiqul Alam noted that the current interim government assumed responsibility when the country was in a difficult position. “From that perspective, the interim administration has performed reasonably well,” he added.
On extortion, he stated the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy. “Action will be taken against anyone if there is evidence,” he said.
He also expressed disappointment that, even after 54 years of independence, there is still no transparency in how political parties raise funds.
