The Cricket Association of Nepal has confirmed that the Nepal Premier League will return for its second edition later this year. The tournament will take place from November 17 to December 13, 2025.
The announcement was made on Thursday, August 21. It marks the start of preparations for a month-long cricket festival that will bring together the best players from Nepal along with international stars.
A total of eight teams will take part. They are Biratnagar Kings, Janakpur Bolts, Chitwan Rhinos, Kathmandu Gorkhas, Lumbini Lions, Pokhara Avengers, Sudurpaschim Royals, and Karnali Yaks. The organizers have already completed a mini-auction of players to form the squads.
The first edition of the league had created great excitement among fans. It gave players a new stage to showcase their skills and helped start a culture of franchise cricket in the country. Officials believe the second edition will take things to a higher level.
The Cricket Association of Nepal said the upcoming season will not only provide entertainment but also play an important role in developing the game. They want the league to attract international attention, improve professionalism, and give local players a chance to test themselves against strong competition.
National team stars will lead the way in the competition. They will be joined by young talents who are eager to make their mark, as well as overseas professionals who will add more quality and experience.
According to CAN, the league will give cricketers exposure to big matches and help them prepare for challenges at the international level. It will also open up commercial opportunities that can strengthen Nepal’s cricket structure.
The timing of the announcement comes at a moment when Nepal is gaining more recognition in world cricket. The national team is competing regularly in international tournaments, and crowds at home are growing larger with every match.
