National Citizen Party on Tuesday served a show-cause notice to Sarowar Tushar, joint convener of the party over allegations of moral misconduct.
According to the notice, both convenor Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain have sought a written explanation from Tushar regarding the accusation.
The party has directed Tushar to submit his clarification in writing within five days to the NCP’s Political Council and the investigation committee formed for this matter.
Until the issue is resolved, Tushar has also been instructed to refrain from participating in any organisational activities, as per the joint directive from the party’s convenor and member secretary.
An audio clip went viral on social media on Monday, where Sarowar Tushar is allegedly heard making inappropriate proposals to a female party member.
Aa social media influencer named Jawad Nirjhor published the audio on his Facebook profile on Monday morning, claiming it to be part of a 47-minute conversation between Tushar and the woman.
He released a 3-minute and 50-second excerpt, calling it the “key part” of the conversation.
