The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has decided to keep all its offices open on the weekend holiday, Saturday, as the “budget activities” of the new fiscal year are ongoing.

A notification issued on Wednesday said that the NBR and all its subordinate offices related to customs, VAT, income tax and revenue collection will remain open on June 21 and 28 (Saturdays) to facilitate the 2025-26 budget activities.

According to NBR sources, office operations will continue on the mentioned dates to facilitate budget preparation and revenue collection, and concerned officials have been requested to be present on time.

An NBR official said that due to the long movement demanding the cancellation of the ordinance issued to split the organisation into two departments, namely Revenue Management and Revenue Policy, there is a fear of a major shortfall in revenue collection. To cover that loss, it has been decided to keep the office open on weekends, he added.
