Wednesday marks the death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. On this occasion, Bangladesh Television (BTV) has arranged a series of special programmes.
At 9:00 pm, Nazrul’s play ‘Aleya’ will be aired as a TV drama, adapted by Kazi Asad and produced by Mamun Mahmud. The cast includes Khairul Alam Chowdhury Tutul, Nusrat Jahan Ruhi, Tanzil Haque Maisha, Kabir Ahmed, ABM Sohel, Bimal Banerjee, Shiuli, Soma and Monowar, among others.
The play explores the complexities of a tragic love triangle between King Meenketu, Queen Jayanti and Ugraditya, driven by Jayanti’s anxiety, indecision and intense emotions.
The day begins at 8:00 am with a Nazrul Sangeet special produced by Golam Morshed, featuring Sumon Majumdar, Shabnam Priyanka, Mirajul Jannat Sonia, Swarlipi, Afsana Runa and Pujan Kumar Das performing songs reflecting on death.
At 11:00 am, a children’s programme produced by Nazmul Haque titled ‘Amader Dukhumiya’, featuring solo and group music, recitation, dance and drama, will be broadcast.
Later in the day:
2:30 pm: Boner Bede (song and dance performance), produced by L. Ruma Akhtar and presented by the Flute Art Center.
3:30 pm: Amare Debona Bhulite (dance performance), produced by Abdullah Al Mamun and presented by Munmun Ahmed.
5:35 pm: Poetry recitation program, produced by Mahbuba Zemin.
7:00 pm: Alekhya, combining songs, poems, dance and discussions, produced by Afroza Sultana.
The day will conclude with a duet Nazrul Sangeet showcase at 10:00 pm, produced by Mahbuba Ferdous and presented by Ferdousi Ahmed Chowdhury. Performances include Yasmin Mustari, Tanvir Sajib, Salauddin Ahmed, Priyanka Gop, Fatima Tuz Zohra, Mahmudul Hasan, Yakub Ali Khan, Sukanya, Dr. Nasheed Kamal, Bijon Chandra Mistry, Noshin Laila, Mohit Khan, Sharmin Sathi Islam, Rezwanul Islam, Rawshan Ara Soma, Shahid Kabir Palash, Rebecca Sultana, Sanjay Kabiraj, Chanda Chakraborty and Imtiaz Ahmed Khan.
