Bangladesh have announced a 16-man squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, with Mohammad Naim and Mohammad Saifuddin returning to the national side after extended absences.

Naim, who last played a T20I in August 2022 against Afghanistan, is also part of the ODI squad. Saifuddin, meanwhile, made his most recent T20I appearance in May 2023 against Zimbabwe.

Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have also been recalled to the T20I squad for the tour

Najmul Hossain Shanto has been left out of Bangladesh’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, following a prolonged lean patch with the bat. The 25-year-old had already relinquished the captaincy earlier this year after a string of underwhelming performances, and has now been omitted entirely after failing to score a fifty in his last 21 T20I innings.

Litton Das, who took over the captaincy ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup, will continue to lead the side.

Shanto is not the only one to miss out from the squad that played the last T20I series against Pakistan. Soumya Sarkar, Nahid Rana, Tanvir Islam and Hasan Mahmud have also been dropped, as the selectors opted for a reshuffle.

Pace duo Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are also back after recovering from injuries. Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and seamer Shoriful Islam have retained their places.
