A BNP leader was gunned down in the heart of the capital resembling surreal action movie sequence within a few seconds.

The murder of Quamrul Ahsan Shadhon on Sunday, businessman and BNP joint convenor of Gulshan Thana, has been captured on CCTV.

The incident took place in the lane 4 of the Gudaraghat area, adjoining Gulshan lake, in Middle Badda, at around 10:30pm.

The footage shows a busy street lined with grocery shops as people, mostly men, spend a regular evening.

A few vehicles such as CNG-run autorickshaws, autorickshaws, and motorcycles occasionally drive across the street. The place is entirely lit by the lights from the shops and street vendors.

Halfway up the street, four men can be seen sitting in chairs and casually engaged in conversation, amongst whom is the victim.

The video shows the assailants, two youth, both wearing white – a graphic t-shirt and a shirt—scouting the area.

The youth wearing the graphic t-shirt and a surgical mask drew his gun and fires point-blank as the victim was bending down.

Shadhon falls to the ground as the men around him scramble for safety. He remains curled up on the ground.

The shooter flees the scene along with his accomplice, firing blank shots. The people on the street scatter. Spectators watch from afar for a few seconds before one man can be seen approaching the motionless body.

Shadhon was later taken to National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease and he died before arriving there. His body was kept in the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
