A young man was killed when an oil tanker ran over him in Bansree, Dhaka. The deceased, Emon Ali (26), was a diploma engineer.
The accident occurred at around 1:45pm on Thursday in front of Bansree Forazi Hospital. He was rescued in critical condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 3pm.
Emon was originally from Khude Baushia village in Bagha upazila, Rajshahi, but lived with his family in Trimohani, Khilgaon.
The victim’s friend and motorcycle rider, Md Habibur Rahman, stated that they were traveling from Trimohani to Tejgaon on the motorcycle. On the way, in front of Bansree Forazi Hospital, they collided with a rickshaw in traffic, causing both to fall. At that moment, an oil tanker behind them ran over Emon, leaving him critically injured.
He was immediately rescued and taken to Forazi Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Family members mentioned that Emon was a diploma engineer and had worked on several construction projects for a contractor in the capital.
Citing doctors, Md Faruk, in-charge (Inspector) of Dhaka Medical Police Camp, confirmed the death and stated that the body had been sent to the morgue for autopsy. The incident has been reported to the relevant police station.
